Sms text to speech, how to?

I can see the potential for this service but before buying premium I want to be able to know I can confidently use it. I would like to set up the text to speech feature so that when I get an sms it is read out by my echo pop. I have googled and can find no guide on how to do this. I have set up an applet in IFTTT, set up a trigger, and set up an alexa routine but I need to know how to get them all working together l because when I get an sms nothing is happening. Please is there a guide that can help?
I have confirmed it's all working in voicemonkey, it's sends messages to my alexa device so that's all set up. But the iftt applet doesn't activate...what do I need to put in the alexa routine to get it to read my sms messages? I have the sms trigger chosen under when...but what do I select under alexa will? There's no sms option??

Hi Sonja
It's great you've linked your Echo speaker with Voice Monkey, that was the first step.
Now in IFTTT, in the "IF THIS HAPPENS" section, select your SMS received trigger.
In the "THEN THAT" section of your IFTTT Applet, select the Alexa Voice Monkey service -> Then select the "Make Announcement" action. -> Select the device you linked. In the Announcement field, select "Add ingredient" and choose the SMS text.
Hopefully that should now work. Let me know how it goes!

Christian: Hi, thanks for your reply. I have created the sms trigger and my speaker verifies this. Is there anything else I need to do inside the voicemonkey dashboard?
IFTTT was set up as you instructed, but its still not working.
In the alexa routine I have selected the voicemonkey sms trigger under when. But what do I put under alexa will, I have looked under every option available and theres no option within the alexa app to read sms.There is no guide on the text to speech functions voicemonkey, which is needed for those new to automation.
I have tried alexa says but the only options are standard responses or customized...what do I put in to ask alexa to read sms?
Announcement asks me to type a message in, when triggered thats all it does is read whatever I've typed not the sms.
Smart home i can select my light and tell that to turn on, but this isnt what i want.
None of the other alexa actions seem relevant, please tell me what I am missing?
Once I have set up a few I am sure I will get the hang of it, but whe google has no answers nor does the documentation I'm completely lost.

Sonja: Hi Sonja.
The Alexa Routine should have the following:
In the "When this happens" section -> Smart Home -> your Voice Monkey "Speaker" device that you created.
In the "action" section -> Skills -> select the Voice Monkey skill.
In the "From" section -> select your Echo device.
Then IFTTT should have:
In the "IF THIS HAPPENS" section -> SMS Trigger
In the "THEN THAT" section -> Voice Monkey -> Announcement -> Select the Voice Monkey "Speaker" device. In the Announcement field, select Add ingredient and then the SMS text.
